We wanted to take this opportunity to get some feedback from our Clear Sky dads. It’s common knowledge that children do better in school when their fathers are involved.* The Clear Sky Elementary PTO has been working to create a “Dads Club”. We are excited to have a group of dads who want to get more involved in our school. However, we have not been able to determine what the club should look like. This is where you come in! Please take a couple of minutes to complete the online survey below. Your feedback is very much appreciated and will go a long way towards establishing this new club.
*According to a 1997 study by the National Center for Education Statistics, children do better in school when their fathers are involved. The study found that children in two-parent families in which the father is highly involved get better grades, enjoy school more, and are less likely to repeat a grade, compared with kids from families in which only mothers are highly involved. In addition, the study found that children do better in school when their fathers take an active role even if their fathers do not live with them. Other studies show that fathers participation enhances children’s ability to make choices and solve problems. |
SURVEY UPDATE!Thank you to all of our CSE Dads who participated in the Dad’s Survey! We are simply blown away by the huge response and the desire to volunteer at the school. Shortly before spring break, we posted the online survey below to find the activities and opportunities that have the most appeal for our CSE Dads. We asked about activities pertaining to safety and security, classroom/in-school events, after school events, availability, and committee participation. We had many dads show willingness to patrol school entrances and hallways. In terms of in-school events, the most popular choices were “Dad’s Day on Campus” or “Bring Your Dad to School,” Breakfast / Lunch with Dad, and PE/Art with Dad. The big winners in the after-school event category were Game Nights, Sporting Events, and Movie Nights. We heard you CSE Dads, and we are busy planning for 2015-2016! Keep an eye out for opportunities to get involved!
