Believe it or not, we are already working on our adult only event, A Clear Sky Night, which will be held on Saturday, April 29. Since we had such a tremendous response last year from teachers and staff members, we've modifying the way we handle experiences. The primary reason for the change is we had a lot of auctioned experiences last year (not a bad problem to have!), and we want to try to maximize the options and prices in the auction.
With that in mind, we'd like to get your feedback on how you'd like to be involved with this year's event. Our hope is to have grade level projects, experiences, and/or baskets. How this would be handled is each grade, each special, each group, or individual staff members can submit an idea for the auction. It could be a basket, an experience, or a project that would then be auctioned off at the event. Please fill out the form below with your intent by February 17.
Below is a brief description for each option.
Basket
Put together 1 (or more) themed baskets. For example, reach out to your parents to collect Lego sets (any size) and/or Lego gift cards and put together a Lego basket. Aspen View recently did this and they raised approximately $200 per Lego basket! The theme could be just about anything from art- to pet-related items to cooking to games to summer items, etc. The basket(s) would be due to the PTO by March 15. If you need ideas, let us know.
Experience
An experience would be bid on by grade level team, special, group, or individual. For example, go bowling with the 2nd grade team. A family will bid on the "2nd grade experience" and the winning student will be able to bring 3-4 of his friends (from any class) to go bowling with all of the 2nd grade teachers; this is not bid on by individual class like last year. With the event being held the end of April, you'll only have a month to complete the experience unless the family agrees to extend the time frame. PTO will cover the costs for most experiences.
Project
Work on a project (with handprints, a custom bench, a quilt, etc.) to auction off. Do you have a PBL project you're working on that could involve a project to auction off? This typically would include something that specifically includes the students. We've seen a lot of ideas for this ranging from something that was built, something that was made, a creative group photograph, etc. Renaissance raised a lot of money last year with grade level and class projects! PTO will evaluate on a case-by-case basis how much they can assist with project costs. The project needs to be completed by March 15 (unless otherwise discussed). If you need ideas, feel free to let us know or contact Jenn Jensen.
We understand that not all of you want to or may be able to team up with other teachers or staff members, and that is not a problem. If you're interested in submitting an idea for something on your own, please indicate that on the form. Depending on the number of interests we receive, we might need to limit the ideas we receive. The money raised at A Clear Sky Night benefits you and our students, and we hope you'll find a fun and creative way to be involved. If you have any questions, please send us email.
