Your PTO Dollars at Work
Below is basic information about our 2016-2017 budget. A more detailed budget can be found here.
6th Grade
Funds are used to support our 6th graders attending their spring outdoor education adventure, as well as scholarships to aid those students who need it. PTO also supports the end-of-the-year 6th grade continuation picnic.
Classroom-Students
The PTO helps to fund fun assemblies for the kids to enjoy throughout the school year. Additionally, we are providing a PBL fund for our teachers to use to further enhance various Project Based Learning (PBL) activities throughout the year. Each classroom is allocated $300.
Teachers
Teacher Appreciation Week is an exciting and fun opportunity for us to thank our fantastic CSE teachers and staff and spoil them with all sorts of fun food, gifts, and activities in the spring. Staff development helps support continuing education for our amazing teachers. The staff Christmas fund enables the school to purchase gift cards as holiday gifts for the staff.
Social Events
These funds support the cost of planning and executing our fun fall and spring events here at CSE! They cover everything from food to entertainment (bounce houses, hamster balls, and all that fun stuff the kids love!). The cost of these events is offset by the fundraising profits that are generated at the events, most of that occurring at the spring event.
PTO Operations
Funds are used to support the needs of the PTO throughout the year. An additional $100 was allocated specifically to support the committee chairs with needed supplies. Childcare expense covers the cost of an individual on site during PTO meetings to enable parents to attend. Also, new to the 2015-2016 school year is a PTO chapter fee paid to the Douglas County Educational Foundation.
PTO Activities
The budget includes $1,000 for several family night events this year. In the past we have primarily only had a movie night, and this year we plan to expand the fun opportunities available to our families. Box Tops are mailed in twice a year and these funds cover the cost of postage. Thank you, family appreciation, and welcome funds cover expenses that support our breakfasts with grandparents, moms, and dads, as well as welcome packets for new families. We have a crisis fund available for the PTO to support families that have an unforeseen hardship during the school year. The yearbook expense covers part of the cost of the yearbook production.
Teacher Grants
This is the pride and joy of the CSE PTO. Our fundraising efforts enable us to provide funds that teachers can request in writing that will cover expenses for everything from new classroom books to electronics to new computer programs. These funds not only benefit our teachers but have a direct positive impact on our kids as they are able to enjoy the “extras” that make their learning experience that much more valuable and memorable!
