We are #BisonStrong! WOW ... what a fantastic day for the Boosterthon Fun Run. Our students were amazing, and our families even more so! You all raised over $28,000! THANK YOU! Thank you for supporting our students, volunteering your time, and coming to cheer on our Bisons. CSE PTO couldn't have done it without you! We loved seeing new faces and were happy to welcome back the old; your support helped make this day unforgettable. That said, we are almost done. Make sure your pledges are paid by Wednesday, September 7. (Check funrun.com for payment options. Checks can be made payable to Clear Sky PTO.) Then make plans to come celebrate (free admission!) at Fall Festival on Friday, September 16. WE LOVE CLEAR SKY!

Thank you! We look forward to seeing you September 16! Grandparents Day became a national holiday in 1978 and on Monday, September 26, Clear Sky PTO invites our students to bring their grandparents or adoptive grandparents to a special breakfast. This is a unique opportunity to bring multiple generations together and celebrate the important role of grandparents. The breakfast will begin at 8:15 a.m. in the Bison Bistro. Join us for FREE bagels, coffee, juice, and fruit.
The Fall Scholastic Bookaneer Book Fair begins Monday as well, so be sure to stop by the library after the breakfast and get some holiday shopping done for the kids! (The Book Fair Committee will be giving way $10 gift certificates to the book fair.) SEPTEMBER 9 | 8:15 A.M. | BISON PARK Start your day with delicious donuts, put a smile on your child’s face, and stay for our DOCS meeting! Dads, come join your Bison for breakfast on Friday, September 9. This before-school event is a great way to spend quality time with your child and interact with other dads. The breakfast will begin at 8:15 a.m. at Bison Park. (In the event of rain, the breakfast will be held in the Bison Bistro.) Clear Sky Elementary PTO will serve FREE coffee, juice, donuts, and fruit. Many dads have expressed an interest in getting involved in our “dads club” at Clear Sky. Thus, immediately after the breakfast, DOCS (Dads of Clear Sky) will meet to discuss activities and events they want to plan for the school year. Please arrange to stay for this important meeting! Please RSVP by Wednesday, September 7 to help us
plan accordingly for food and beverages. Questions? Contact the Family Events Committee.
Keep the Pledges Coming!
Happy Thursday! So far this week has been AMAZING! Thank you so much for your help and enthusiasm during the first few days of Boosterthon! We so appreciate the pledges that your students have worked so hard at getting. As of Wednesday, the current grade leader is the 3rd grade class! As pledges keep rolling in, this can change very quickly. Who will be in the lead this weekend? Be sure to watch Facebook for the Weekend Challenge. How Can YOU Support CSE? • Register your child on funrun.com. (Every student gets a prize for registering!) • Reach out to sponsors—friends and family—who could donate to help our school. • Ask your child about the BACKYARD BOX OFFICE Character Act of the Day. • Come cheer on your student at the Fun Run on Wednesday, August 31. • Volunteer to hand out water on the day of the Fun Run. Fun Run Times The Fun Run times have been determined, and we would love for parents to come hand out water to our amazing athletes. Please sign up using the sign up genius link.
How Will the Monies Raised Be Used?
From Principal Kellie Roe All educators know how important it is to differentiate support for their students, and ours work hard to do that every day in their classrooms. Sometimes though, students need more support than their teachers can provide. That’s where MTSS (multi-tiered systems of support) comes in. The MTSS approach involves targeting specific areas in which students are struggling or requiring challenge and then applying increasingly research-based interventions until the students’ needs are met. At Clear Sky we want to offer additional support to our students that need it most, and we are so excited to partner with our PTO to do that! This year our PTO fundraising dollars will go to teacher salaries that provide intervention support to our students and supplies they might need to provide these interventions. In this very tight budget year, we are grateful to have the support of our PTO and families to provide this additional intervention support for our students!
Thank you for your support! See you at the Fun Run!
Our Boosterthon Fun Run program kicks off Monday, August 22. Please watch this message from Principal Kellie Roe. For more information, visit the PTO website.
Did you know that Fridays are Spirit Days at Clear Sky? Students and staff are encouraged to wear our school colors: sky blue, white and silver. This year, the PTO has partnered with a new company to provide spirit wear. Spirit wear orders will be accepted online until September 20; shirts will be shipped to your home around October 5. Order today at www.booster.com/clear-sky.
Boosterthon Frequently Asked Questions What is the Fun Run?
The Fun Run is a 8-day program and is this semester’s biggest fundraiser, taking place on Wednesday, August 31. Families will be getting pledges for the laps their student runs at the Fun Run. Funds raised from this event go toward intervention support for our students! How can parents register their student(s)? First, parents log in or sign up on funrun.com. Then, parents can register their student as a participant on funrun.com using the school registration code. Students get a free prize just by being registered. How can students get pledges? Parents can help connect students to 10 different sponsors. Families can enter those pledges online at funrun.com. Will my student really run 30 laps? How big is the track? Yes, even kindergarteners! The Fun Run track is about 1/16th of a mile, 1/4 the size of a normal high school track. The average student will run 30-35 laps and will have a goal to run at least 30 laps to help their school. The most any student will be counted for is 35 laps. Can students receive a prize for flat donations? Yes! All flat donations count toward pledges and are rounded by 30 (the average student will run 30 laps). So, a $30 donation is the same as $1 per lap. A $60 donation is the same as $2 per lap, etc. What if families don’t have Internet? If a student’s family does not have Internet access, parents and families can use the pledgebook to record all pledges. If students turn their pledgebook into their teacher, please make sure student and class name are listed on the front. Can sponsors pay for pledges online? YES! Sponsors have the option to pay online. Only pledges that have an email address entered with the pledge can be paid online. Make sure sponsors know they should enter a valid email address. The day after the Fun Run event, sponsors will receive an email with payment options. When is the pledge money due? Pledge money is due on September 7. Families have one week to collect their pledges after the Fun Run. How is money collected? Families will call their sponsors to let them know how many laps their student ran. All students will get an envelope to organize cash and checks and bring back to school (if sponsors don’t pay online). All checks are made out to Clear Sky Elementary PTO. Can parents attend the Fun Run? Yes! Watch this blog or the PTO website for Fun Run grade times. Do you have more questions? Contact us!
Help us raise funds for intervention support for our students!
This year’s MAIN FUNDRAISER is again the Boosterthon Fun Run, and we are so excited to finally host the run in the fall when weather is nicest and when funds raised can be put to use all year long! Hosting a Fun Run means there is no selling or delivering products. Family and friends anywhere in the world can support our school by giving pledges toward the number of laps your student will run on the day of the Fun Run on Wednesday, August 31. Our Fun Run program will last about 2 weeks — from Monday, August 22 to Wednesday, August 31. Students will experience an exciting Pep Rally, families will have time to get pledges, and on the last day, students will run in the Fun Run! Every student, no matter financial participation, is invited to run in the Fun Run. Also, our Fun Run comes with a world-class character theme. This year’s theme is BACKYARD BOX OFFICE, a movie theme all about making a difference by getting into character. Our students will learn from five REAL kid difference-makers. From inventors, to world-class speakers, to business owners, to world-record holders, these five kids will inspire our students to practice the five Character ACTS and make a difference in our community. Check out the fun video below. How Can You Support Clear Sky?
